Meet Julie
I am Julie Cieniawski "Sin-now-ski", and I ask you to select me as the next Maricopa County Board of Supervisors to represent District 2 in the 2024 election cycle. I am running because I value the importance of ethical local governance led by thoughtful decision-makers.
Who am I? I am a wife, mother, 38-year engaged community member of both Mesa and Scottsdale, career public school educator, first-generation college graduate, and an individual who steps forward when problems need to be solved. I am completing my 4th year as a leader on the Scottsdale Unified School District governing board, continue my service as the Vice Chair for The Family Promise of Greater Phoenix (addressing issues of family homelessness in our communities), and have served on the statewide Arizona Education Association Board of Directors for 6 years. I choose to be a solution-oriented individual and prioritize seeking comprehensive options with various inputs before making decisions. As a leader, I believe outcomes should produce the best results for those the decisions will impact while still maintaining the quest for the highest return on investment. I am a person of high integrity and care about our communities' well-being and future success.
Arizona is a great state, and Maricopa County is growing. Our communities' needs and interests are paramount to our government's work. I believe elected officials should uphold and demonstrate the importance of respecting the rights and responsibilities granted to us through our democracy with authenticity. The integrity of voting is very important to me. Our citizens should be able to vote without inconvenience or concerns that the elected leaders will not live by the results of voters' choices. Decisions made to guide the operations and safety of Maricopa County should be thoughtful and intended to meet the evolving needs of our communities. Responsible and prudent budgetary management is of utmost importance in making tough and necessary decisions.
